Dual -Purpose Storytelling
Stories for adults that are kid friendly
Let’s Talk Tears, the first publication by author Banks Posie, introduces grown-up feelings to children using a safe conversation.
This Mommy & me story teaches little ones that growing up is not about erasing big feelings, but rather about sharing the practices we’ve learned to work through them.

Stories that write themselves…
Let’s Talk Tears was derived from a journal entry.
In the midst of working two stressful jobs and experiencing bouts of seasonal depression, I assuaged these feelings with the art I loved most: writing.
I began by creating my own personal journal prompt, How would I explain these feelings to a child? Coming from years in childcare, I spent most of my professional career orienting my internal thoughts into simplified narratives for the children around me.
From here, this journal entry devolved into a bouncy, rhyming story, expressing the emotions of adulthood into a light, explanatory tale.
And alas, Let’s Talk Tears was born. Not to soothe just any child, but the child within me. My hope is that it does the same for you and your littles as well.
